Growing environmentally friendly beans explained

Climbing beans have the potential to provide farmers with yields three times higher than bush beans. This means three times more food on the table or three times more money in the pocket for the millions of smallholder farmers who rely on agriculture for their living. The only challenge to grow climbing beans is that they need something to climb up.

Most farmers in bean growing areas in East Africa can’t afford the added expense of buying staking materials to support their bean crops. PABRA and partners have been working to develop an innovative technology of staking climbing beans using non-wood materials.
