|Kilimo Trust under its Kilimo Biashara Training Programme (KBTP) conducted a second joint learning course on building sustainable agribusiness linkages for regional trade in food staples. The training was held at Kilimo Trust Head Quarters in Kampala-Uganda from 9th – 13th November, 2015. So far, KBTP has a total of 21 graduates that will act as ambassadors of regional trade in food staples.
||The five (5) day training covered the following topical areas:
a Using a business plan as a tool to respond to market opportunities,
b) Tools for selecting business partners,
c) Negotiating Win-Win agreements, and
d) Building and sustaining agribusiness linkages.
In addition, participants went for a field visit to help them understand a functional
|business linkage. They met different partners within a business linkage including farmer groups (Nambuli farmer groups and Namutumba district farmers association), the rice processing company representatives (Upland rice miller LTD), and agro input dealers. Participants appreciated the training and promised to apply the knowledge gained in their operations. The next training is scheduled for Mach 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya.
