Andrew GASHAYIJA is the current Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Kilimo Trust Rwanda and Team Leader for the Rural Youth Employment Support (R-YES) project (2020-2024) implemented in Rwanda by a consortium led by Kilimo Trust with funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Andrew joined Kilimo Trust about 10 years ago (June 2011) and he has been instrumental in designing and implementation of national and regional donor-funded agricultural projects in East Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Burundi) such as REACTS I project (funded by IFAD), REACTS II project (funded by AGRA), BEST-EAC project (funded by DAI), DIMAT project (funded by UNDP), and the Kigali Whole Sale Market for Fresh Produce (initially funded through Kilimo Trust), among others.

Andrew has experience in building partnerships to leverage institutional strengths for increased value chains coordination and expanded access to national and export food markets by farmers and other value chain actors. He has a BSc. in Applied Biology/Food Microbiology and MSc. in Food Science and Nutrition.
