Henry Mawanda

Program Officer - Ugandan
Henry Mawanda is an Agribusiness Development Specialist with over 8 years of professional experience in Economic Research & Analysis; Institutional capacity development (for Farmers, traders & processors); establishing & strengthening sustainable agribusiness linkages tapping into structured input and output markets through private – private partnerships & private – public partnerships; Project monitoring; Value chain selection & development; and Integration of gender into agricultural value chains development. Prior to re-joining Kilimo Trust in July 2017, Henry worked with Chemonics International Inc under the USAID Feed the Future Uganda Commodity Production and Marketing Activity (CPM). He has implemented a wide portfolio of projects and studies funded by different Development Agencies such as USAID, BMGF, UNDP, IFAD, AGRA, GIZ and Ministries & Departments Agencies (e.g. the Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda) among others. Henry holds a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management (First Class Honours) from Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics.


Eddy Frank RUGAMBA

Program Officer – Rwandese
Eddy Frank Rugamba is a Food Scientist and Technologist and has been with Kilimo Trust since 2012. He holds an MSc in Animal Products Processing, Entrepreneurship and Safety. Over the years, Eddy has facilitated private -private and private- public partnerships along agricultural value chains, in addition to capacity building of value chain actors on identified gaps to improve their competitiveness. Currently, Eddy Frank is based in Rwanda and works as a Program Officer under the Regional East Africa Community Trade in Staples (REACTS II) project.


Lilian M. Githinji

Program Officer – Kenyan
Lilian is an expert in diagnosing food markets in East Africa to help food value chains actors to better target differentiated markets for their products. Over a period of seven years, she has built a wealth of experience in analysis of relevant national and regional policies that govern agriculture and trade to identify gaps and come up with recommendations to stimulate reforms geared towards increasing trade in food products among East African countries. In doing so, Lilian has horned her skills in effective mobilization and engagement of governments, business and civil society to stimulate discourse towards unlocking investment and regional trade in food products. Lilian has also worked directly with private companies that source, process, and trade in food in the region to incentivize their investment, coordination and leverage benefits to smallholder farmers. Lilian currently works as a Program Officer in the Markets and Policy Analysis Unit of Kilimo Trust. She holds a MSc in Agriculture and Applied Economics and a BSc in Agricultural Economics.



Assistant Program Officer – Burundian
Désiré HAKIZIMANA is an Agribusiness Management specialist. Désiré has accumulated over 10 years of work experience with the public (including development partners) and private sectors in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. In Kilimo Trust he has substantially contributed in designing and conducting value chain analyses, markets assessments and policy analysis. He has a Bachelor of Science in agriculture from Ngozi University and Master of Business Administration (MBA), majoring in Agribusiness from South Carolina State university.


Yolanda Cyril Lucas

Accountant – KT Tanzania
Yolanda Cyril Lucas is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Tanzania under the National Board of Accountants and Auditors. Yolanda holds a master’s degree in Business Management and bachelor’s degree of Arts in Accounting and Finance. Yolanda has over 6 years’ experience with accounting and finance. She is currently working with Kilimo Trust Tanzania as an accountant.


Andrew Kasera

Program Assistant – Kenyan
Mr. Andrew Kasera is an agribusiness management specialist, with over 9 years’ work experience in Agriculture Sector. He holds MSc. in Rural Development and Agribusiness from Szent Istvan University in Hungary, and a BSc. degree in Agribusiness Management from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. Andrew is currently working at Kilimo Trust as a Program Assistant.



Program Assistant -Tanzanian
ROBERT BRIGHSON MWALUSEKE is a Business Development Expert, with over 6 years’ experience implementing agricultural business development support and value chain projects in Tanzania particularly in Lindi, Mtwara, Mbeya, Njombe regions. Robert holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture. He is also a qualified drone pilot from Bristol Ground School UK, good understanding of remote sensing in agriculture. At Kilimo Trust he works as a Program Assistant and Officer in Charge of Kilimo Trust Mbeya office.


Aled Jeras

Program Assistant
Mr. Aled Jeras is a Tanzanian with BSc. Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness and over 7years in Agri-business development. Before joining Kilimo Trust in November 2017, Jeras worked with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives in Tanzania and Unilever Tea Tanzania limited. Jeras has good experience in Program management and implementation, farmer capacity building, contract farming and application of information technology for agricultural development.


Fitta Silas Sillo

Program Assistant -Tanzania
Mr. Fitta Silas Sillo is an agronomist with 12 years’ experience in rice research and capacity building. Previously, Fitta worked as a rice farmers trainer with JICA under project on rice industry development in Tanzania and as a rice researcher at Africa Rice Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa. He joined Kilimo Trust as a Program Assistant in November 2017.


Lilian Kazigati

Administrative Assistant – Ugandan
Lilian has been with Kilimo Trust since June 2015. She has 3 years’ experience in administrative duties and 7 years’ experience in customer care service from various sectors (DFCU Bank, Graphic Systems U Ltd). Lilian has a bachelor Degree in Education with Literature and English.”


Zuhura Msangi

Administrative assistant – Tanzanian
Zuhura Msangi is an Administration Assistant, who joined Kilimo Trust in 2016. She is tasked with client relationship and administrative management of Tanzania Office. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management of Foreign Relations (MFR) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (BAIR).


Martin Kasozi

Accounts Assistant – Ugandan
Martin Kasozi is a professional accountant, with 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, tax, audit, management, corporate & integrated reporting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPA-U). Martin also holds a bachelor’s degree of Science in Accounting & Finance, a post graduate Certificate in Project Monitoring & Evaluation, and a Certificate in computerized accounting. Martin is currently employed at Kilimo Trust as a support Finance staff, and is responsible for the integrity of the Trust’s accounts, donor financial management and project audits.


Nakayiki Maria Sanyu

Technical Assistant Ugandan
Nakayiki Maria Sanyu is a Ugandan with an honour’s degree in Agricultural Science and Entrepreneurship and is currently pursuing an Msc in Food processing Technology. Sanyu is passionate about agricultural processing and development, and as such has a good experience with extension work and development of agribusiness value chains. She is currently working with Kilimo Trust as a Technical Assistant.


Stuart Kasozi

Technical Assistant MEL – Ugandan
Mr Kasozi Stuart is an information systems specialist, with over 8years experience in business process automation. He has a post graduate Certificate in Software Engineering, a Master of Science in Information Systems, an Honors Degree in Information Technology as well as a number of Certifications in Project Monitoring and Evaluation. Stuart is currently working at Kilimo Trust as a Technical Assistant in the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Unit and is largely responsible for the unit’s data management and process automation components.


Nixon Felix

Technical Assistant – Tanzanian
Nixon Felix is a Technical Assistant at Kilimo Trust, he supports the Trust with project field implementation, especially capacity building on business management. In addition, he supports the M&E unit with and management of field data. Nixon has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania


Grace Akumu

Technical Assistant – Ugandan
Grace Akumu is a food scientist by profession with more than three years’ experience in conducting research and implementation of development work in the line of agribusiness, policy, postharvest management, food safety and nutrition. Grace has an honor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, a Master of science in Food Science and Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation. Grace is currently working with Kilimo Trust as a technical assistant.


Hassan Ismail Mohamed

Driver – Tanzanian
Mr. Hassan Ismail Mohamed is a Tanzanian graduate from the National Institute of Transport, with over 13 years in driving public and private vehicles (Manual & Auto). Before joining Kilimo Trust in November 2017, he worked with Mbeya HIV/AIDS Network under SAUTI-USAID project in Tanzania. Hassan is very familiar with the road network of the United Republic of Tanzania as he has been involved in many driving missions.


Jastin Joseph Chatta

Driver – Tanzanian
Jastin Joseph Chatta, is a Driver working with Kilimo Trust since 2016.He is hard working, has a great attitude, focused and he is always ready to help. He holds certified Driving license class C , and a certificate in Advance Drivers course Grade Two.


Salum Hamadi Issaka

Program Officer-(MEL)
Salum has a MSc in International Trade and Economics of Commodities (2011) from University of Dar es salaam in collaboration with UNCTAD virtual institute on trade and development, Geneva and bachelor’s degree in applied Statistics (2008) from Mzumbe University. He has attended various professional trainings on data analysis, research methodology, practical based survey design and piloting, economics of commodities production and trade (UNCTAD, WTO), Econometric models and Time Series Econometrics Analysis (AERC), International trade analysis tools (ITC, UNCTAD, TradeMap), National Trade policy review (UNCTAD & WTO), Online Short Course in Global Trade Analysis (Purdue University), Analysis Package (CSpro, SPSS, PcGive, Stata and EViews), ISO/IEC 27001 – Information Security Management Systems (ISO), results based monitoring and evaluation, advanced management Information System Applications (MIS), MS Project and Geographical Information Survey (GIS) - ArcMap. Salum has worked with Kilimo Trust since February 2013 and his main areas of focus/expertise include Project Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, Research and Analysis using trade and statistical software’s, time series analysis, econometric models, project coordination, supervision and trade. He has particularly been involved the design and implementation of various projects including the Competitive African Rice initiative (CARI) project which was implemented in Tanzania. He has interest in excelling in project management, research designing, publications and entrepreneurship.


Atupokile Mwakatwila

Program Officer-(MEL)
Atupokile Mwakatwila is an Agricultural Economist. She holds a Collaborative MSc. in Agriculture and Applied Economics from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Tanzania and the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and BSc. in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness from SUA. Her career as an agricultural economist has covered the areas of the agriculture value chain, improved seeds system, post-harvest technologies, climate change and women empowerment in crop and livestock index. She has worked as a research assistant with various national and international NGOs i.e. ILRI, IFPRI, SUA, IITA, Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT) and Tegemeo Institute. Currently, she’s working with Kilimo Trust Tanzania as a program assistant in monitoring and evaluation. She is in-charge of access to finance, supporting consortium partners.
