|Trainees going through the FBS training
The second farmer business school (FBS) training of trainers (ToT) under the CARI Tanzania project was conducted between 28th February and 19th March 2016.
A total of 27 prospective trainers from the six new sub grantees- Musoma Foods, Mamboleo Farm, Kilombero Plantations Limited, G2L, Biosustain and Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Zanzibar were brought together for this training. Other participants
| included SAGCOT, Rural Urban Initiatives (RUDI) and Kilimo Trust. The Lead trainer was from Mozambique.
The training had three phases: in class learning, training learning groups and peer learning groups. The trainees learnt about the principles and methodology of modern adult learning strategy as well as facilitation and training skills to equip them for FBS training.
During the 1st Training Learning Group (TLG) prospective trainers were divided in three, with one in Bahi Makulu and the other at Bahi Sokoni. A total of 76 farmers were trained in the 3 schools and 65 farmers graduated.
The training was officially closed on 17th March 2016 by
||the Bahi District Commissioner representative who issued certificates to the trainers while expressing his gratitude to the project for having conducted the training in his district. He challenged the trainers to prove themselves by demonstrating good results in the field.
It is planned that by June 2016, 1,890 farmers will be trained on FBS whereas by September 2017 it is envisioned that a total of 18,780 farmers will have been trained which will represent about 94% of the total CARI – target of 20,000 farmers.
