Kilimo Trust acknowledges that, impacts take time to achieve and/or measure. In the last seven years, our work has supported clear outcomes, several of which have started to crystallize into sustainable impacts. Kilimo Trust is proud of the following outcomes, which are expected to deliver sustainable social, economic and /or environmental impacts in the near future:
a). The adoption by the EAC of a common strategy for food security; and the EAC Food Security Action Plan.
b). The model we implemented in Uganda – building enterprises of producers anchored by post-harvest handling and storage. The same storage facilities also support warehouse receipt system (WRS) which uses the Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs) of the members, rather than banks.
c). The Maendeleo Agricultural Technology Fund - and several enterprises developed through it. Specifically the producers owned processing facilities such as for Cashewnuts in Southern Tanzania.
d). The transformation of the wood sub-sector through clonal technology, which has already taken root in Kenya with great progress towards impacts at enterprise level as well as for the environment.
